Inmate Capture After Escape
Jerry Lee Cooper, a 48-year-old inmate who escaped from the Brown County Detention Center in Ohio on September 15, was apprehended by the FBI in Louisville, Kentucky, on Monday night. Cooper was awaiting trial for his involvement in a murder-for-hire scheme when he and an accomplice managed to break out by breaking a window, stealing a boat, and traveling to Kentucky. Authorities warned that Cooper was armed and dangerous. Two individuals, Marlana and William Strausbaugh, were arrested for allegedly aiding Cooper in his escape; they face multiple charges, including hindering prosecution and escape. Cooper is now being held at the Oldham County Detention Center and faces an escape charge in addition to previous charges of attempted murder, conspiracy, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence. The FBI received assistance from local law enforcement during Cooper's capture, and he is set to appear in court in Louisville soon.
